Assignment progression
I came up with 3 application ideas for the final project.
1. Lifestyle- this is I guess useful for people who like to eat homemade foods but doesn't have time to cook at home
So they can deliver foods to their places and people who like to cook but doesn't have enough money to put their restaurant so they can sell foods through this app
2. Education- I haven't seen a good app like Duolingo or Lingodeer to teach my language. So my target audience is native English speakers who like to learn my mother language ( Sinhala)
3. Health and fitness- people who are trying to lose weight
(like Fitness pal app)give some tips how to lose weight, give a reminder, use without internet
Finally, I decided to choose lifestyle app which is homemade food app. My target audience is Sri Lankans who don't have enough time to make foods at home. Because I saw a lot of people was buying homemade foods (there are few houses selling homemade foods in my area). But there is no app for this in Sri Lanka. My reference is 'Foodpanda app' and 'Iwum Pihum app' (Sri Lankan food recipe app).

I changed the homepage and added more categories of the foods. So the customer won't miss what he/ she wants to order. And I added my favourite to the navigation. So it is helping the customer to order their favourite food easily.
Changes after the consultation 4
I changed the order icon and notification icon to a chef hat and a dish. And I added the icon navigation to see how it is working when added icons.
The reason I chose this app to make
Sri Lanka is a developing country. The population is almost 21 million(2018). The according to the Census data, in 2016 there were 7,947,683 people employed in Sri Lanka. So the quarter of people work in Sri Lanka. And 18.3% (2016) of people died in Sri Lanka because of diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
I think this app would be helpful for employers and kids/ students in Sri Lanka.
The difference of the Iwum Pihum app and the app that I'm going to make: Iwum Pihum app is a lifestyle app which is providing recipes of foods. And helpful people who don't know how to cook or who like to cook in a delicious way.
However, the app that I'm going to make is like food Foodpanda. It means people can order and deliver foods.
how the customer and the dealer connect through the app
I did a research of bunch of apps to see how they connect the customer with the employee. I used Uber, Uber Eats, Grab, Zomato and Foodpanda to view this.
Uber, Grab and Zomato has the same process. They have two apps to connect the customer and the restaurant or the driver.
*Zomato doesn't have order foods feature in Malaysia, so I used the overseas app to check how the driver and customer connect.
- Uber app is for customers and Uber Driver app is for Drivers.
- Grab app is for customers and Grab Driver app is for Drivers.
- Zomato app is for customers and Zomato Businesses app is for Restaurants.
- However, Foodpanda connect with the restaurant through either E-mail or phone call(using central call)
Overall they are connected with a third party app to connect with the customer and staff.
The result of the survey
So far, I have got 25 responses for my survey and almost 75% people haven't used any food delivery apps in Sri Lanka. And they used to order fast foods through food delivery app. Almost 90% people would like to use an app for homemade food deliver if they had in Sri Lanka. Because of convenient time-saving, easy with the busy schedule, healthy ingredients, unique, like to try different type of foods, normally homemade foods are not adding artificial ingredients, trust homemade foods are tastiers and healthier.
furthermore, these responses here are some special features they like to see through the homemade food delivery app: quick delivery, better connection with less technical failures, pre- order, cash on delivery, food packages, constant updates, easy to use Actual pictures of the foods that they receive, customize the food variation op (because of people may have different tastes/ allergies/ food habits), promotions.
Final submission
Feedback 1
the lecturer suggested to find some more information about the target audience. And said to find out the difference of "Iwum Pihum" app and the app that I'm going to make.
Feedback 2
The lecturer accepted my idea. However, told to come up with the flowchart.
Feedback 3 (Based on the presentation)
Do a research of grab and uber app to take ideas of how the driver connected with the customer. Find how you going to prove the foods healthy or not. The app almost looks like Foodpanda app.
Feedback 4
The lecturer said the design is fine but the icons are look weird.
